The Cotopaxi is the highest active snow-capped volcano of the world, 5897 meters and is worth a visit. You can hike up to the refuge at 4800mtr, do a downhill mountainbike tour, or summit this majestic and powerful volcano. Within the national park you can hike, camp and enjoy mother nature. Some great hacienda style hotels offer amazing experiences for those who decide to stay the night. In the Cotopaxi region you can also find the small indigenous village of Saquisili, where on Thursdays an authentic market is held.
